Suitability of Dht-based Peer-to-peer Session Initiation Protocol for Wireless Distributed Services

چکیده
Providing both analytical and empirical results, we analyze the suitability of DHT-based Peer-to-Peer Session Initiation Protocol (P2PSIP) overlay networking as a substrate for wireless, distributed multimedia services. Session initiation is just one application of this framework. First, we discuss the potential of P2PSIP for different applications and analyze the security and reliability of P2PSIP. Second, we present our prototype mobile P2PSIP implementation and a P2PSIPbased distributed calendar application for wireless user groups. Third, we measure average DHT hop count and retransmission count in up to 2000-node P2PSIP overlays. Fourth, we analyze numerically the scalability and robustness of P2PSIP and client-server SIP in some generic networking scenarios. Our results demonstrate the feasibility of P2PSIP as a standardized peer-to-peer networking protocol for distributed Internet applications, both fixed-line and mobile.

Improving Management Performance of P2PSIP for Mobile Sensing in Wireless Overlays
Future wireless communications are heading towards an all-Internet Protocol (all-IP) design, and will rely on the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) to manage services, such as voice over IP (VoIP). The centralized architecture of traditional SIP has numerous disadvantages for mobile ad hoc services that may be possibly overcome by advanced peer-to-peer (P2P) technologies initially developed for...

Recursive Distributed Rendezvous (ReDiR) is a service discovery mechanism for Distributed Hash Table (DHT) based Peer-to-Peer (P2P) overlay networks. One of the major P2P systems that has adopted ReDiR is Peer-to-Peer Session Initiation Protocol (P2PSIP), which is a distributed communication system being standardized in the P2PSIP working group of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). In ...

Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) based services, such as VoIP, Instant Messaging (IM) and Presence, depend on the Internet and SIP overlay infrastructure. Wireless ad hoc networks being devoid of any such infrastructure, require auxiliary mechanisms to support such services. In this paper, we have proposed an integration of the services with a cluster based ad hoc routing protocol and subseque...

of the Licentiate's Thesis In my Master's Thesis, we presented how a mobile peer-to-peer file-sharing application can be implemented using the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) as the underlying signaling protocol. The main objective of this thesis is to evaluate what kind of special requirements mobile environment poses for peer-to-peer application design, and present how peer-to-peer based se...
متن کاملSession-Based Service Discovery and Access Control in Peer-to-Peer Communications
Service Location Protocol (SLP) is a standard service discovery protocol proposed by IETF. SLP provides a flexible and scalable service discovery framework over IP networks. This paper presents an approach for service discovery and access control under session-based peer-to-peer communications. In other words, it is an approach providing mechanisms for restricting unauthorized discovery or acce...
